It doesn't run as well as the windows version. I've recently switched to Ubuntu as my main operating system on my laptop, and after installing all the essentials I realised that starbound has native linux support so I decided to try it out! Much to my surprise, on an i5 8GB RAM laptop from 2013, Starbound runs just as well as my 9900k workstation with 32GB of RAM and a GTX 1080
For consistant uptime it is recomended you host a server in a data center.
